Staff
The staff of the New Mexico Land Conservancy works closely with the Board of Directors and is responsible for most of the implementation and all of the day-to-day administration of the organization.

J. Scott Wilber
Executive Director
Scott has 20 years of experience working in natural resource management, conservation and community development throughout the Rocky Mountain West and Latin America. Since joining NMLC in March 2004, Scott has managed NMLC’s land conservation and stewardship programs, completing over two dozen projects on nearly 60,000 acres of land throughout the state. Scott was named Executive Director in April 2006.
Scott has worked previously for The Trust for Public Land, Colorado Open Lands, The Nature Conservancy, the Tropical Forest Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service. Scott grew up in Wyoming where he gained his love of nature and the great outdoors. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras and is fluent in Spanish. Scott has a B.S. in Forest Management from Northern Arizona University and a M.A. in Geography/Latin American Studies from University of New Mexico.

Michael Scisco
Conservation Specialist
Michael has over six years of experience working in various positions within the natural resource conservation field. Michael has worked for the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, Ecotrust, and the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust. Michael also has extensive Conservation Planning and GIS experience related to open space preservation, water quality enhancement, riparian corridor conservation, and farmland preservation.
Michael holds a BS in Environmental Science from Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University and a Graduate Certificate in GIS from Portland State University (OR).
Michael is excited to be a part of the New Mexico community and appreciates the opportunity to preserve its unique natural and cultural heritage through his work with the New Mexico Land Conservancy.

Kris Murphey
Office Manager
Kris has worked for many years in non-profit administration, specializing in database management, desktop publishing, copyediting and project management. She joined NMLC as part-time office manager in August of 2007 and is glad to be contributing to land preservation efforts in New Mexico.
In addition to her work with NMLC, Kris’ volunteer activities include work with hunger relief, early childhood education/abuse prevention, and historic preservation organizations. She has a BA in linguistics from the University of California at Berkeley.
