Location: Grant County Commission Chambers located at 1400 E. Hwy 180 in Silver City, NM (both sessions will be held in the Commission Chambers room)

Public Seminar - we encourage landowners, ranchers, and anyone interested in learning more about conservation easements, saving the ranch, maintaining Grant County's culture and your estate to attend this session.

Presenters: Dr. John B. (Jack) Wright, co-author of Saving the Ranch: Conservation Easement Design in the American West; Chair of the Geography Department at NMSU-Las Cruces; and Board Chair of the New Mexico Land Conservancy and Scott Wilber, Executive Director, NMLC

Seminar: Conservation Easement

Professionals Seminar - Structured for Attorneys, Accountants, local Government employees, Realtors, and other professionals interested in learning more. CLE credits will be available.

This seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the conservation easement, a common tool used by private land trust and public agencies to protect land for conservation purposes. Attendees will learn about what a conservation easement is, the process for completing an easement, how easements are valued, the Federal, State, and Estate tax benefits associated with easements, and easement legal defense. Followed with time for questions and answers.
