Property Description:The Dethlefsen property is located in the eastern foothills of the Black Range, approximately ten miles southwest of Winston. The property consists primarily of mixed pinyon-juniper woodland and montane grassland, and includes a small riparian area along the one quarter mile stretch of Monument Creek that runs through the southern portion of the property. The property is adjacent to the Gila National Forest and is located approximately three miles from the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Area. The landowners, Lyle and Vera Dethlefsen, have owned the property since 1996 and decided to protect it with a conservation easement to ensure that it would remain in a natural condition with no livestock grazing.
