The Northeast Region includes Colfax, Union, Mora, Harding, San Miguel, Guadalupe and Quay Counties. The region encompasses the eastern flanks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and large areas of shortgrass prairie to the east of them. It is composed almost completely of private and State Trust Lands, portions of the Carson and Santa Fe National Forests, the Kiowa National Grasslands and some land grants. NMLC has protected about 44,000 acres of land in this region. We continue to work to preserve working ranches as well as key pieces of wildlife habitat and open space in this part of New Mexico.
