La Tier Property

The 20.8-acre La Tier easement was granted in June of 2002 to the Taos Land Trust and was subsequently transferred to NMLC in January of 2004. The property lies just south of Sugarite Canyon State Park, about 4 miles east of Raton and consists of two contiguous parcels. Wildlife is common on the property, as the landscape represents a transition zone between higher elevation woodlands and lower grasslands and it’s located near the Chicorica Creek. The property is currently used for passive recreational activities such as hiking and horseback riding) and for aesthetic enjoyment.
