The passing of this mill levy will help take care of Bernalillo County’s water, natural areas and farmland at a cost of just $13 per year for the average household.
The voters of Bernalillo County passed a measure that will “establish a 0.20 mill levy for 15 years for the purposes of acquiring, improving, operating, and maintaining natural areas, open spaces, and cultural, historic and nature education sites within the county to protect drinking water sources, wildlife habitat, and agricultural land, including along the Rio Grande, and to allow children and families to get outdoors in nature, with all expenditures subject to independent annual audit and citizen review.”
NMLC is delighted that the public voiced such strong support for land conservation in Bernalillo County, and we look forward to the conservation successes that this levy will help the county achieve. Thank you to everyone who helped pass this important measure!
