SUPPORT NMLC THROUGH

PLANNED GIVING AND ESTATE PLANNING

Planned Gifts

Designating a planned gift to NMLC ensures the protection of key conservation-value lands in New Mexico and provides you with the opportunity to make a more substantial gift than you thought possible, while guaranteeing you with the income and capital gains tax savings you may need based on your individual situation. Discuss with your financial advisor and/or attorney how setting up a planned gift might help you while also carrying your values into the future.

Bequests

Designating NMLC in your will, or as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or Individual Retirement Account (IRA), can help to preserve New Mexico’s precious landscape and will help NMLC to grow in your memory.  Bequests, like other gifts, can be restricted for a specific purpose or given without constraints. If you already have a will, you can append a charitable bequest with the simple addition of an addendum.

     Types of Bequests:

Unrestricted Bequest

An Unrestricted bequest is one intended for the general and best use by NMLC at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

I give to the New Mexico Land Conservancy (NMLC), a non-profit organization located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, (Tax Id # 06-1648104) the sum of $___________ (or _____% of my estate; or the property described herein). The property comprising this gift may be used to further the charitable purposes of the New Mexico Land Conservancy at the discretion of its trustees.

Restricted Bequest (gift for a specific purpose)

Donors can restrict bequests to be used for specific purposes that are especially meaningful to them. If you create a restricted bequest, please give the New Mexico Land Conservancy flexibility to meet unforeseen circumstances.

I give to the New Mexico Land Conservancy (NMLC), a non-profit organization located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, (Tax Id # 06-1648104) the sum of $___________ (or _____% of my estate; or the property described herein) to be used for _____________________ specify purpose). If, in the opinion of the trustees or their successors, the need for funds for the charitable purpose described above no longer exists at some future date, the trustees or their successors are authorized to use these funds in the best interest of the New Mexico Land Conservancy.

Final Contigency Gift

You can name a primary recipient of your estate, such as your spouse or children, and then name the New Mexico Land Conservancy (NMLC) as the final contingency gift. If your beneficiaries do not survive you, your estate passes to NMLC. Without this protection, the government could decide how to disburse your assets—or even inherit your estate.

I devise and bequest the residue of the property owned by me at my death, real and personal and wherever situate, in equal shares to my above named beneficiaries, if they survive me. If my above named beneficiaries do not survive me, I give and bequeath my residuary estate to the New Mexico Land Conservancy (NMLC), a non-profit organization located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, (Tax Id # 06-1648104) for its general purposes.

Gifts of Stocks or Securities

Donating appreciated stock or securities are tax-efficient and effortless opportunities for you to gain additional tax advantages while providing long-term financial support to NMLC. Please have your financial advisor or broker contact us to discuss your plans for giving to NMLC and leaving a legacy in your name.

Honorarium

We consider it a tremendous honor when someone designates the NMLC as the charity of choice to honor the remembrance, recognition, or/and celebration of family or friends. We will send you a letter of recognition (for tax purposes) and a beautiful card will be sent in your name (to whom you specify) identifying you and your honorary contribution.

Contribution of Land or Conservation Easement

Your donation of land or a conservation easement is the ultimate means to the protection and preservation of land in New Mexico.

Please be advised that the staff and Board of Directors of the New Mexico Land Conservancy cannot provide tax or legal advice. Please consult with your own tax or legal advisor when planning to make a gift to New Mexico Land Conservancy or any charitable organization.
